I went biking on the CT with my 4 children this summer and we decided to stop at Rambo's for lunch. We entered, got in line and were about to order when I asked if I may use the lady's room and was told NO - WE DO NOT ALLOW ACCESS TO OUR BATHROOM. But that I could walk half a mile to a porta-john if I wanted. Really? So we all went to BEX and had a FABULOUS lunch, at BEX. Best grilled cheese my daughter ever had she said.
Reservations are not required to dine-in. You can choose between the antique table by the front window or sit on the nail keg at the potbelly stove (not working), right next to the rotary dial wall phone. The front porch outdoors is available too.
"Rambos" is on the must-do list of our grown kids and our grandchildren on every visit.
There is no line but a short wait sometimes. Everyone keeps track of "who's next" while catching up on current affairs.
Enjoy lunch and then get a prime steak for your grill or a home made frozen entre for dinner.
Hometown general store with friendly faces that are super helpful. Meat is great, and the prices are fair. If you are a local, Rambos is picking up the slack when it comes to groceries with no local supermarket. When in doubt, you can't beat one of their chuck burgers made to order!
Rambos General Store is the essence of rural hometown New Jersey. The essentials are there but the fine meat and superlative sandwiches (and the staff) are the best features.
All is take out wrapped to go. Get a can of soda, a side of fresh 'slaw and start the picnic
Just tasted a thick slice of smoked turkey breast that a friend brought to work. (I still have the leg - can't wait to gobble that up, lol). It was outstanding!!! Moist, delicious flavor. Called to order one for Thanksgiving but, alas, no more orders. I wish I would have known. On a waiting list, hoping for a cancellation!!
